Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 June 2026
These terms govern your use of ChessTimer — the web app at this site and the ChessTimer mobile apps (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
The service
ChessTimer is a free chess clock and timer for two-player games. It needs no account and works offline. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
Free of charge
The core clock, every time control and the themes are free, with no ads and no tracking. If optional paid extras are ever offered, they will be clearly marked and never required to use the essential clock.
Acceptable use
Use ChessTimer for personal, club and tournament play. Don't misuse it: no attempts to break, overload or reverse-engineer the Service for malicious purposes, and no reselling or passing it off as your own.
Not an official timing device
ChessTimer is provided for convenience. For rated or official games, always follow the arbiter's ruling and the event's designated equipment. We don't guarantee the clock's accuracy or availability and you use it at your own risk.
Intellectual property
The ChessTimer name, design, content and software are owned by us. You get a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the Service; all other rights are reserved.
No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or any loss arising from your use of or inability to use the Service — including the outcome of any game timed with it.
Changes
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. The date above shows the latest revision.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of France. Nothing here limits any consumer rights you have that cannot be waived by agreement.
