How do I start a game?
Pick a time control on the home screen and tap your side as each turn ends. Tap once to start; tapping your own side passes the move to your opponent.
Which time controls are supported?
Bullet, blitz, rapid, classical and FIDE presets, plus custom cadences. The mobile app adds Fischer increment, Bronstein delay and simple (US) delay, and a per-side handicap so each player can have a different clock.
The clock kept running while the app was in the background — is that a bug?
No. ChessTimer recomputes the elapsed time when you return, so the running side is charged for the time spent away. Keep the app in the foreground during a game; it does not need to run audio in the background.
How do I turn sounds or haptics off?
Open Settings inside the app and toggle Sound effects and Haptics. Both are off-by-choice and saved on your device.
Does ChessTimer work offline?
Yes. The app needs no network connection and makes no requests to our servers. Your settings and custom time controls are stored only on your device.
